In 1862, the Meukow brothers were sent to France by the Silesian royal family with the task of bringing back the best cognac. Instead of returning to Silesia, the two brothers started their own distillery, called Distillerie De Matha. This distillery is located in Cognac, France. Shortly afterwards, the brothers started developing and producing their own Meukow Cognac.
